KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now) is an organisation of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University students that provides sporting and recreational activities for children and young people with special needs.  During term we run 4 weekly sessions.  Volunteering with KEEN is completely non-commitment and there's no experience necessary.  For more information visit www.keenoxford.org.

Jacari is a charity providing home teaching for children living in Oxford.  These children do not speak English as their first language and often come from refugee families and those seeking asylum.  Volunteers spend an hour a week at their pupil's home to help them practise their English and support them in their schoolwork.  This can transform a child's self-esteem, helping them to achieve things they never thought possible.  For more information visit www.jacari.org.

School Governors' One-Stop Shop (SGOSS) is a national charity that recruits volunteers to become school govenors in the areas where they are most needed.  The role offers the opportunity to have a direct impact on local education, whilst developing valuable skills.  No experience is necessary and anyone over the age of 18 can apply.  For more information visit www.sgoss.org.uk.

Western Corner is a community project for disabled children and young people.  We offer imaginative and fun opportunities where they can fully participate in a range of activities of their choice.  We are looking for dynamic volunteers to support them and the project in providing this service.  For more information visit www.childrenssociety.org.uk.

ARCh (Assisted Reading for Children in Oxfordshire) is a local charity whose volunteers work one-to-one with children in primary schools to impart a love of books and reading.  Wolunteers need to commit to a minimum of a years volunteering which involves one and a half hours twice a week during the school day.  For more information visit www.archoxfordshire.org.uk.

We need volunteers to help out at events and fundraise for Helen and Douglas House, a registered charity which provides respite and end of life care for terminally ill children and young people.  This project needs volunteers with all levels of commitment - we are looking for people who would like to help out on a more casual basis at organising events as well as those who would like to get more involved and set up and organise their own fundraising ideas.  It's a great way to get involved with a local charity and there is lots of scope for those who enjoy being creative and inventive, or who maybe don't have the time to volunteer on such a regular basis.  To find out more visit www.helenanddouglas.org.uk or contact helenanddouglas@oxfordhub.org.

We would love some student volunteers to help run our ChaterBox days (Saturdays), especially those studying communication, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, teaching etc. and who would find it beneficial and interesting!  We also need administration help within the office and more crucially need people who will be willing to represent the centre by attending fundraising events, or organising their own!  To find out more about volunteering with us visit www.ace-centre.org.uk or contact Lena Curtis: Curtis@ace-centre.org.uk. NEW ADMIN VACANCY!

Reading Quest is an Oxford-based charity with 15 years experience in training and outreach work with hard-to-reach children and families.  Using tried-and-tested methods, Reading Quest helps children who struggle with the early stages of reading.  Currently the opportunity has emerged for up to two Interns and a Student Trustee.  Click on the links for more information.

Volunteers are needed to help with reception cover to assist with early evening appointments between 6pm and 8pm, Mondays to Thursdays.  As a volunteer you would assist in a variety of duties, including receiving and welcoming clients when they arrive for appointments.  Voluntary work with OFM provides useful experience for business and admin students, as well as many other students with an interest in mediation or charity work.  Or can be very rewarding work for someone who has a few hours to spare each week.  To apply, please either call 01865 741781 for an application form or download the form and description from www.ofm.org.uk, work/volunteer section.

We rely on a wonderful team of volunteers and we are looking for new people to join in. All you need is an open mind, plenty of energy and a can-do attitude to join in with the rest of the team. For more information visit www.oxfordmencap.org

Starlight Enterprise - Discrimination can clearly impact on a person's ability to 'shine' and all of Starlight's courses and events are designed to encourage participants to be who they are capable of being by no longer being at the effect of their own or other's negative opinions and prejudice.  There is an opportunity to reflect on where these values and beliefs originate and to let go of any attitudes that cause friction and disunity.  For more information visit www.starlightenterprise.co.uk
