Asylum Welcome

Asylum Welcome exists for people fleeing persecution and danger in their own countries, who seek refuge in Oxford and Oxfordshire. Our volunteers, members, donors and staff, of various faiths and politics, share values based on a common humanity and social justice. Our work is to reduce poverty, suffering and social isolation and to enable asylum seekers and refugees to live with the respect and dignity to which they are entitled.

Balkan Sunflowers

Balkan Sunflowers is seeking experienced educators, students of pedagogy or early-childhood education, people with experience in grassroots community education projects and people with knowledge of Albanian or Serbian to volunteer in each of its four Learning Centres in Kosovo. The Learning Centres serve marginalised minority children and youth. BSF has both long-term opportunities (six months or longer) as well as a short-term summer program (two months). Volunteers are accommodated with host families.

Riders

Riders for Health’s vision is of a world in which the poor do not suffer and die for lack of access to health care and other vital services simply because they are isolated by distance or terrain. Riders for Health manages and maintains the vehicles used in the delivery of health care and other vital services to rural communities in Africa . We manage them on a planned, preventive basis so that the vehicles do not break down however difficult the conditions.

Sporting Opportunities

Sporting Opportunities offers sporty people (like you) the chance to join sports coaching volunter projects in Africa, Asia and South America and coach sports to disadvantaged children. Travel Aid

TravelAid mobilises university students to tackle the causes and symptoms of global poverty. In partnership with community organisations around the world, we structure development projects focussing on education, health, social inclusion and income generation. TravelAid recruits teams of university students for each of these projects. The student teams fundraise for the project before spending 4-6 weeks volunteering at the project over the summer vacation.
