Employing Students and Graduates in the University
The University is keen to promote high quality work based learning opportunities for students. This would include thinking about giving priority to offering part-time and temporary employment to students providing opportunities for valuable learning experiences in the workplace.
We do not advocate thinking about employing students as a low cost alternative to employing others based locally, it should be recognised that they are being employed as part of our commitment to developing the employability skills of our student body. We would encourage managers to give students every opportunity to improve their work skills and recognise their worth to the university by not restricting them to low level work.
If you have a vacancy where the type of work is:
- Casual
- Cover for illness or absence
- Seasonal cover for times of peak activity or increase in workloads
To this end the Careers and Employment Centre have launched the Brookes Talent Bank, a campus based, online recruitment service. Providing current students (and occasionally Alumni) with roles at the university. Our students have a wealth of experience and are a good resource for answering short term or temporary recruitment needs.
