What we do for students

Whether you’re looking for your first graduate job, a work placement, part-time/casual work or further study, we can help. It’s never too early to make a start. But if you don’t get round to it before graduating, Brookes students can use our service free for three years after graduating.

  • You can access Talent Bank where you’ll find vacancies for Part-time/Vacation jobs, Student Placements and Finalists.
  • You can attend our Drop-in sessions and speak to a Careers Counsellor for 20 minutes as many times as you like. No need to book just turn up from 12-4pm Mon to Fri (12-7pm on a Tuesday) at The Careers & Employment Centre in Helena Kennedy or at Wheatley (11-4pm Thu or 11-2pm Fri) in H105. Longer appointments can be made following a drop-in session if necessary.
  • You can have a mock interview recorded onto DVD and receive feedback.
  • You can use the computers at the Careers Information Room to download and print information on types of work, employers and further study.
  • You can attend any of our workshops or employer events to develop your career management and job seeking skills or to meet potential employers.
  • You can use Prospects Planner, a computer aided guidance system available on the Prospects website.
  • You can sit a practice psychometric test. A deposit of £10.00 is required when booking a place, which will be refunded after you sit the test. For details of the latest practice psychometric test dates email careers@brookes.ac.uk or visit the news & events page.
  • You can email us with an queries that cannot be answered on this site: careers@brookes.ac.uk

In addition to our services, the Prospects website offers a wide range of services for students and graduates. This includes extensive careers information, chatrooms where you can talk to graduate employers and postgraduate study experts, as well as email advice for recent EEA graduates. You can also read Prospects Graduate, an online magazine that contains graduate job vacancies, postgraduate courses and career news and advice.
