Employability Workshops
The Careers & Employment Centre can arrange for a Careers Counsellor to talk directly to your students in lectures or as part of a module programme. We organise a wide variety of workshops including: CVs & covering letters, online and paper applications, interview techniques, labour market & destinations, skill recognition & development, assessment centres (including psychometric tests and group exercises), team-building, professionalism. Do you have other ideas? We are happy to discuss other workshops we could develop for you or with you.
CV Clinic in your School
These can be very popular with students and time efficient for us and you. We are able to give quick advice and check CVs with a large number of people.
Induction
An increasing number of Schools are adding a session at induction on employability. Recent research has indicated that students are more likely to engage with work based learning opportunities and Personal Development Planning if they are encouraged to do so from the outset and reminded regularly throughout the course. If you would like us to run a session tailored to your students on how to develop and record their skills, and information on the value of volunteering, part-time work and placements during their time at Brookes.
Drop–in Sessions
The drop-in session gives students and graduates the opportunity to see a professional Careers Counsellor for 20 minutes for feedback and advice on all employment and careers related queries including CVs, interviews and applications.
Guidance Interviews
Guidance interviews of up to an hour can be booked following attendance at a drop-in session if the student or the Careers Counsellor feels this would meet their needs, or if students have valid reasons why they cannot make the drop-in times due to personal circumstances, for example, childcare or work commitments.
Job Vacancies
We advertise a wide range of jobs for new graduates, part-time and vacation jobs and placements and jobs for graduates with some experience.
