What skills have I gained?

Over the course of your Health and Social Care degree you will have developed a range of skills, both relating to your course specifically, and more general skills that you could apply to many different types of jobs. You will have developed the ability to:

  • Research, analyse and evaluate health issues effectively.
  • Use health information and data efficiently.
  • Understand health concerns on a personal, national and international level.
  • Work in both a multidisciplinary team and as an individual on a wide variety of tasks.
  • Work with people of all ages, cultures, and ethnic origins in a range of settings.
  • Manage your time effectively.

Nursing

Within the field of Nursing at Brookes there are four specific areas that you can specialise in – Adult Nursing, Children’s Nursing, Learning Disability and Mental Health, as well as Midwifery. Despite the differences in these areas, the types of jobs available to these students are often grouped together.
